Terms of Sale – Top Tuning Limited

Please ensure that you read through the terms of sale between you (our customer) and us (Top Tuning Limited). From here on, Top Tuning Limited and its responsibilities will be referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our,” and you the customer and your responsibilities as “you” or “your.”

ECU Remapping – Conditions & Responsibilities

Our ECU remapping service is fully safe but is dependent on your vehicle being in full operating order and within manufacturer-standard tolerances. If the hardware (engine, parts, and components) on the vehicle is not working within expected tolerances, remapping could cause damage to said hardware. When we carry out our remapping service, we take the vehicle at face value that it is in good working order. If you know otherwise, please inform us.

We perform DTC/engine fault code checks to assess the vehicle more in-depth prior to remapping and always perform fault code analysis before any work is carried out. If your vehicle doesn’t respond as expected to the remap, we’ll give a partial refund and restore your vehicle to its original settings. The refund will exclude our deposit.

Warranty & Risk

We offer a full lifetime warranty on any remap work carried out. However, we offer no warranty on any mechanical or electrical parts, wires, or sensors. The remap is carried out entirely at the owner’s risk and with your consent. You understand the potential risks involved with remapping and are happy to proceed.

You are aware of the MOT and government restrictions regarding any emissions bypass control software, which can only be used for off-road/motorsport use — not for road use.

Client Agreement

  • All power/torque gains from your ECU remap are approximate, as performance is lost over time and components vary due to age and manufacturing differences.
  • Fuel efficiency after a remap depends on factors including outside temperature, driving style, tyre pressures, mileage, vehicle load, and regular maintenance.
  • We are not liable for costs associated with fixing present or pending faults found during diagnostics, either before or after remapping.
  • We are not liable for any mechanical faults that arise after the remap. However, we may be able to resolve minor faults before or after remapping.
  • Although our remaps are within manufacturer tolerances, increased power may hasten the wear of mechanical components. End-of-life parts may fail immediately or shortly after.
  • Regular servicing reduces the likelihood of mechanical failures.
  • Remapping may void your manufacturer warranty.
  • Any emissions bypass software (DECAT, DPF, GPF, EGR, Adblue deletes) is installed entirely at the owner’s risk with regard to MOT compliance.
  • By installing these products/services, you understand that individual results may vary depending on make, model, age, engine health, and usage.

Post-Remap Support

As part of the test drive, we aim to ensure your car has responded well to the remap and that no faults have been triggered. Once the test drive is completed and we or you have left, we will not travel to your location. You must bring the vehicle back to us if any issues arise after the work is completed.

We may ask you to have your vehicle diagnosed by a third-party mechanic to independently verify any issues. These additional fees will not be covered by us. Please contact us first before paying other companies to inspect your vehicle.

If your car is diagnosed with a mechanical fault, we can remove the remap for you. No refunds will be given for this. You must return the car to us. We can re-install the remap once the car is fixed, and we may charge for this depending on the time required.

Top Tuning Limited does not accept liability for any bills or loss of earnings.

Virtual Reads & ECU Data

Many vehicles are Virtual Reads. This means the file taken from the car for remapping does not contain the current ECU data — it is the original stock file from the manufacturer.

Example: A car has had an Adblue delete previously done, but the current owner is unaware and does not inform us. The car is Virtual Read only. The existing Adblue delete will not be present in the Original Stock File and therefore not in the new tuned file. When the new tuned file is installed, EML (Engine Management Lights) may appear showing Adblue faults. In this scenario, we are not responsible. We can rectify this on the day, but additional costs for deletes will apply.

Deposits & Refunds

Deposits are non-refundable. This covers our time if a mechanical issue prevents mapping or for last-minute cancellations. Once taken, the deposit will be held indefinitely and credited against any future work.

If the car does not respond as expected after the test drive, we will remove the tuned file, restore the original stock file, and refund you minus the deposit. This will always be discussed with you.

If your car has already been mapped — which we cannot detect until 80% of the job is complete — a £50 fee will apply for time, travel, and labour. This fee is in addition to any deposit retained.

⚠️ Important Disclaimers – DPF Cleaning & Approved Centres

DPF Cleaning Liability Top Tuning Limited cannot be held liable if your vehicle’s DPF blocks up again after cleaning. The cleaning solution we use is tried and tested, but unfortunately, if the DPF becomes blocked again, it is typically due to one of the following reasons:

  • The vehicle has been used for short journeys that prevent proper regeneration
  • There is a fault on the vehicle causing the regeneration process to fail
  • The DPF has internal damage that cannot be detected during an on-car clean

We always recommend diagnostics before cleaning to help identify any underlying issues. Our goal is to provide the most effective solution possible, but certain conditions may limit the success of an on-car clean.

Approved Centres & Warranty Top Tuning Limited cannot be held liable for any work carried out by our approved centres. These garages have been selected based on the excellent service and technical expertise they’ve demonstrated to us, but they operate independently.

We offer a 12-month warranty on the DPF clean. If your DPF system blocks up again within this period, we will re-clean the DPF free of charge. However, it is the customer’s responsibility to arrange the removal and reinstallation of the DPF, including any associated costs. While we stand by the quality of our cleaning process, we cannot control external factors that may cause the DPF to block again. This warranty is offered to give you peace of mind.

If a warranty clean is required, the DPF must be brought to our Chippenham facility for cleaning.

Payments for services are handled separately:

  • Top Tuning Limited invoices for the DPF cleaning
  • Approved centres charge for diagnostics, removal, refitting, or any other work they carry out

Please note: Top Tuning Limited does not arrange bookings or obtain quotes from approved centres. This policy allows us to focus on our core services and maintain efficiency.
