AdBlue Solutions & Repair – Helping You Resolve Costly AdBlue Problems

Modern diesel vehicles commonly use an AdBlue/SCR system to control NOx emissions. When faults develop, warning lights, error messages and starting restrictions can occur, with some components potentially being expensive to replace.

At Top Tuning, we provide professional mobile AdBlue diagnostics, solutions and repair services for cars, vans, motorhomes, tractors and trucks.

Depending on the vehicle, the fault and its intended use, we can diagnose AdBlue-related problems and advise you on the appropriate repair or solution.

What Is AdBlue? Why Do Problems Occur?

AdBlue is used as part of a vehicle’s Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system. The system uses components including pumps, sensors and injectors, and faults within these components can result in dashboard warning lights, error messages, reduced performance or starting restrictions.

Our AdBlue services are designed to identify these problems and provide an appropriate solution based on the vehicle, the fault and how the vehicle will be used.

Off-Road & Motorsport Solutions

We can also provide specialist AdBlue software solutions for vehicles intended exclusively for off-road or motorsport use.

Any solution that bypasses or disables a vehicle’s emissions-control system is not offered for vehicles that will be used on public roads.

How Does AdBlue Reduce NOx Emissions?

AdBlue is a high-purity urea and deionised water solution used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to significantly cut nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. The solution is injected into the exhaust system, triggering a chemical reaction in the catalyst that converts harmful NOx into nitrogen and water vapour, helping vehicles meet emissions standards.

AdBlue Consumption & Costs

For every 100 gallons of diesel, a vehicle typically consumes around four gallons of AdBlue. Larger vehicles, such as trucks and lorries, can use more depending on the vehicle, engine and operating conditions.

While AdBlue plays an important part in controlling emissions, faults with the system can result in additional maintenance and repair costs.

AdBlue Limitations & Performance Issues

AdBlue and SCR systems can experience a range of problems:

🚗 Operating Temperature – SCR systems need suitable exhaust temperatures to operate effectively. Vehicles regularly used for shorter journeys may experience different operating conditions compared with vehicles undertaking longer journeys.

⚠️ AdBlue & SCR System Faults – Problems with pumps, injectors, NOx sensors and other SCR components can cause warning lights, error messages, starting restrictions and potentially expensive repairs.

At Top Tuning, we can diagnose AdBlue-related issues and advise you on the appropriate AdBlue solution or repair for your vehicle.

What Happens If You Let the AdBlue Tank Run Dry?

🚫 Do not allow your AdBlue tank to run empty.

If the AdBlue level becomes too low, the vehicle may display warning messages and, depending on the vehicle, eventually prevent the engine from restarting.

If you are experiencing AdBlue warning lights, countdown messages or other SCR system problems, contact Top Tuning for professional AdBlue Solutions & Repair.

Important – Off-Road Use & Legal Notice

Any AdBlue solution that bypasses or disables the vehicle’s original emissions-control system is supplied strictly for vehicles intended for off-road, motorsport or other non-road use.

Under sections 75 and 76 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, it can be an offence to alter a vehicle, or fit or supply vehicle parts, where doing so would result in the vehicle being unlawful to use on a road. The legislation contains provisions relating to circumstances where there was reasonable cause to believe that the vehicle would not be used on a road in Great Britain, or would not be used on a road until it had been returned to a lawful condition. [legislation.gov.uk]

By purchasing an off-road AdBlue solution from Top Tuning Limited, you confirm that the vehicle will not be used on a public road in Great Britain unless and until its emissions system has been returned to a condition in which the vehicle can lawfully be used on the road.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is used lawfully following the work. Customer acknowledgement does not override our own legal responsibilities, and Top Tuning Limited reserves the right to refuse any work where we have reason to believe the vehicle will be used unlawfully on the road.
